Chigirie - Hand Torn Paper

 ARTIST

Commission a Chigirie Torn Paper Portrait

2020 Commission Information:

Your pet beautifully rendered in Chigirie - Fine Hand Torn Japanese and Thai Paper using your reference photo

Artist Robin Panzer uses her own unique style of the Japanese art form, Chigirie, a technique that involves using small hand torn pieces of Thai and Japanese papers to create beautiful images. Robin creates her animal and landscape art completely from hand torn paper without the use of paint.

Observers can’t help but notice Robin’s deep spiritual connection to the animals she creates.  She is known for eyes that are so realistic they capture the souls of the animals she has brought to life in her art.

I work on a first come first serve basis. So please order as early as possible bookings fill very quickly and are often booked as much as two years in advance.

Collaboration
A truly collaborative experience, I work with you each step of the way from sharing and choosing the right photo for your pet's portrait, to learning about your pet's personality through anecdotes you share so I may capture and incorporate your pet's character into your special piece of art. As your pet comes to life out of torn paper, I will post progress photos for you to see and share with your friends and I will touch base with you throughout the process for your thoughts and opinions on the direction your piece takes, until it is sent on its way to be a lasting part of your home.

The Process:
I put a loving attention to detail in creating your pet from beautiful papers that I hand tear and construct with a professional matte medium. The result is a delightful likeness of your pet that becomes a very dimensional and textured final piece of original art.

Your pet or any animal can either be created as a realistic representation portrait or as pop art (colorful style.)

After creating your pet out of torn paper he/she will be mounted on a beautiful hand painted Cradled solid Birch panel with deep, painted sides, beautiful enough to hang as is or gorgeous professionally framed if you desire (framing is not included.)

After purchasing your portrait, I will begin the process by having you email me several digital photos of your pet (at least 1 MB in size, for best results). I will select the photo reference that I believe will render the best portrait of your pet and email you to gain final approval before beginning.

This custom process takes 6-18weeks from your scheduled booking date, to render a beautiful memento of your very special and loved pet! Once your art is finished you will receive an email from me to ask for your approval of the final product before shipping.

Each pet is meticulously created from many small pieces of fine art papers and you will have a beautiful very original piece of art for your home or as a gift for someone you think is really special!

Time Frame:  When you order you will get the very next available commission spot in my schedule. Your booking date will be the month that I begin working on your portrait. Completion can take anywhere from 6-18 weeks from your booking date but is not guaranteed for a specific date as it is important not to hinder the creative process by forcing or rushing it. Chigirie is not fast work but the results are oh so beautiful and lively.  We can however plan to meet a special date/event and build in time for the creative process. If you have questions about my schedule or have a special occasion date you are trying to meet, please email me at robinpanzerart@hotmail.com and I will do my best to accommodate your schedule.

Here’s are just a few of the many wonderful comments from my clients:

This is Brewski, the ugliest and cutest English bull dog. Robin captured his look perfectly! I also love the fact that it's not just a painting but has texture and relief from the artistic method she uses. Just love it! !~ Debbie in Oregon

Henrie turned out just perfect. He can’t stop staring at himself, he stands under his portrait just gazing upward. The likeness is uncanny and I love the unique textures! This portrait was a Birthday gift from my Sweetie…I love it, what a special, special gif! ~ Sharree , Utah

Robin is an exceptionally talented, collaborative artist. So happy to have found her. Love her work and the way she did my Samson. ~Hollywood Actress Dreama Walker

I cried when it arrived, I love it so much!
Mark said...that is f@#$@#ing AMAZING!!!! ~ Client Dana Strickland, gift for husband Mark.

It's here, it's here and I LOVE it so much it made me tear up! I loved it from afar but close up I see the texture, and you got some tiny details like Peanut's "eyebrows", Cassie's whiskers, and the texture of some of the paper you used is so rich. Thank you thank you thank you for giving me something worth way more than I paid, IMO!!!!! -Client Nancy Whitney

I miss Jack so much, you captured his soul. I can't thank you enough for this beautiful art. -John
